A place to create

Welcome to my blog!

I am not really sure what to do for my first post or what I hope to accomplish with all of this. All I know is I need to dedicate a space to writing my thoughts down. I have so many interests, and I hope that this can be a place where I can share them in writing.

This year I have become sort of "farm" girl. We moved into a new place in Wisconsin- a cabin nonetheless! Our new home came with a lot of land and potential. I have stepped into a role in which I never had anticipated I would have. I discovered a love of cooking, baking, growing things, and homemaking (which I am sure my husband appreciates).

To quote Rory Gilmore, "“I live in two worlds. One is a world of books." I go about my day, and by the end of it I am ready to retreat back to the world of fiction. If I am being honest, a lot of the time I prefer this world over the real one ;)

Reading has always been a big part of my life. It is entertainment, an escape, and therapy all in one. I enjoy most genres. It surprises a lot of people that I, a girl wracked with anxiety, spend a lot of time reading the work of Stephen King. I respect the writing of others as art, because it is. I am enthralled at how people can create something out of nothing. It is a truly a gift.

Through the last three years or so, I have started to experiment with this whole "creating something out of nothing." I have a variety of poems that I have written, as well as the start of two novels (Lord help my brain that can't stay on track). Now that we are finally settled after some hectic military life and at home in Wisconsin, I feel like I can finally become serious about what has become a passion of mine. Plus, I have a fun new office that is just waiting for me to create things!

As I said before, I don't have a clear purpose for this page. It likely will become a modge podge of book reviews, house projects, and dog stories. Whatever happens, I am excited for this new journey!
